Linking language, motivation and dynamism

Learning a new language has never been a straight road. Yet second language learning has always been studied from a linear, static perspective. When linguistics intersected with social research, the relation between second language learning and motivation was also taken as something linear. This is far from the truth. Several factors come into play while learning a new language and the rate at which fluency is acquired differs from one individual to another. How much of it is passion and how much is perseverance. Exploring these areas and modelling the factors from a non-linear aspect is the need of the hour. Not just theoretical application but practical guidelines, mathematical models and defined system behaviors that will make language learning more accessible to the learners as well as educators.
